Now I like a drop of wine as much as the next man, but there is something about beer that brings joy to one's soul. As the great American Benjamin Franklin once said: 'Beer is living proof that God loves us and wants to see us happy'. Couldn't agree more! You may or may not know that fermented beverages have been brewed in the UK for around 5000 years. Today there are over 600 British breweries producing over 2000 different types of beer. An amazingly wide selection of tastes, styles and types that not many people even know about never mind tasted. There are centuries of traditions, craftsmanship and history attached to brewing. After six months of inspiration, perspiration and hop-based refreshment, John and a host of friends, family and old/new contacts launched Beer Ventures. Originally the Nottingham based logistics company Mail Workshop took care of the storage and shipping of the beers. In August 2008 however, we brought Beer Ventures down to its spiritual home in Dorset, and have recently been joined by Andrew Cooper - someone even more fanatical about great beer! From this new 'base camp' we are discovering new tastes and styles from these shores and around the world and are eagerly planning our future Adventures in Beer...
